Ingredients

What ingredients do you use?

All Billie Rose candles are made with a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax which is currently one of the most sustainable waxes on the market and is completely free from paraffin, palm, beeswax, synthetic additives and GMO’s. We use fine fragrance oils that are paraben-free and phthalate-free. Full allergen and CLP safety information for every scent is published on our CLP information page.

What does phthalate-free mean?

Phthalates are synthetic plasticisers sometimes used in fragrance oils to help scent bind and prolong scent longevity. Some studies have raised concerns about their impact on health and the environment. One of the most commonly used phthalates is DEP (diethyl phthalate), which regulatory bodies consider safe at the levels found in fragrance products. However, we choose not to use it because we'd rather err on the side of simplicity and give our customers complete peace of mind. Our fragrances are 100% phthalate-free.

Are your products vegan-friendly and cruelty-free?

Yes. Every product in our range is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

Candle Care & Performance

How long do your candles burn for?

Classic white jars: 40+ hours burn time

Amber jar candles: 30+ hours burn time

How do I know the candle will burn evenly and not tunnel?

Tunnelling is where the wax burns down the centre of the candle and leaves a ring of unused wax around the edges. This usually happens with mass-produced candles because the wick isn’t carefully matched to the wax and vessel, which makes tunnelling far more likely.

Burning a candle for short periods of time can also cause tunnelling. For our amber jar candles, we recommend burning for at least 2–3 hours at a time and for our larger classic white vessels, 3–4 hours per burn is ideal. This matters most on the first burn but a fully melted wax pool also creates the strongest scent throw and allows the fragrance to fill your room beautifully each time you light your candle.

Our candles are thoroughly tested to assess wicking, scent throw and quality. This means that you can enjoy a full melt pool with every burn.

Do I need to trim the wick?

Yes. We recommended trimming the wick to approx. 5mm before each burn.

This will prevent an enlarged or smoking flame, ensure a cleaner burn and prolong the life of your candle. Trim using wick trimmers, nail clippers or simply pinch the top of the wick off with your fingers.

How do I get the best out of my candle?
  • Trim the wick to approx. 5mm before each burn.
  • Allow the wax to melt to the edges (particularly on the first burn) to avoid tunnelling.
  • Never burn for longer than 4 hours at a time
  • Keep away from draughts, children and pets
